Rules and Regulations
- To be eligible to enter a home(s) in the Parade of Homes, the builder must be a member of MHBA as of the September 1, 2024, deadline. In addition, all builder members must have renewed their 2024 – 2024 memberships.
- The 2025 Spring Parade of Homes entry deadline is 4:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025
- Two prices are shown for each entry in the Parade Magazine:
a. Selling Price of Home “As Shown” (includes everything to be sold with the house and does not include Land)
b. Base Price of Home (does not include Land, GST or development charges if applicable).
All Condo prices include land and GST
There will be no misleading or confusing pricing. The MHBA will receive amendments to individual home prices by WRITTEN REQUEST ONLY UP TO Thursday, August 1, 2024 — ALL FINAL PRICES ARE TO BE RECEIVED BY THIS DATE. - Price discrepancies (i.e. if the price on hand-outs or brochures is different from the published magazine price) or any violations of price categories may result in a fine of up to $1,250.00.
- Printed base prices of show home models published in the magazine may increase by up to 10% during the 2025 Spring Parade of Homes (March 1 - March 23) and for the 30-day period following.
- The entries must be new, never been occupied, and must be open for public viewing during ALL Parade hours. They must be complete and ready for showing by 12 noon on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Please refer to Section 13 for more information on fines related to ‘show homes not open during parade hours'.
- The builder must notify the MHBA office should an entry not be available for showing at the time the Parade opens. The deadline for noting "incomplete homes" or homes that will be unavailable for viewing is Thursday, January 23, 2025.
Builders who do not identify homes as incomplete or unavailable for showing will be fined $1,250.00.
Note: A completed home is one, which has all interior woodwork, painting, floor coverings, exterior finishes and landscaping finished/installed. (Exterior Finishes & landscaping does not apply to new entries in the Spring Parade).
Important Note Regarding Withdrawal of a Show Home: You may withdraw your entry on or prior to Wednesday, January 8, 2025 without penalty. If you withdraw your show home after January 8, 2025, your entry fee of $1,400.00 is forfeited unless another home is entered in place of the withdrawn entry. If you withdraw your show home after January 23, 2025 without finding a replacement, you will forfeit your entry fee of $1,400.00 and will be subject to an additional fine of $1,250.00. - All magazine proofs must be signed by the official builder representative and must be returned to the MHBA office by the date noted on the proofs. If signed proofs are not returned, the MHBA accepts no responsibility for any mistakes in the magazine. All changes must be in writing.
- Each home entered will require one builder identification sign which will be installed in advance of the Parade by the MHBA and picked up following the parade. If signs are lost, damaged, or if the builder requires new identification signs, the builder will be charged $50.00 for the production and installation of each sign required.
- Parade of Homes flags and flagpoles are required for each show home entered in the parade. Builders must order flags and flagpoles from the MHBA and will be invoiced separately. Additional information will be sent out under separate cover. During the Parade, only the MHBA Parade of Home flags are permitted to be flown in front of each show home entered in the parade. No secondary flags are permitted.
- Show Home Hours: To maintain consistency of show home viewing opportunities for the public, the Parade builders are asked to cooperate by having their show homes available for viewing and staffed during all official Parade hours.
- The 2025 Spring Parade of Homes will run for 3 weeks, beginning on Saturday, March 1, 2025, and concluding on Sunday, March 23, 2025. Builders must ensure that they have a dedicated staff in each show home and are open during Parade hours, which are as follows:
Winnipeg and Surrounding Areas
Monday – Thursday 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Brandon Only:
Tuesday & Thursday 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Show homes are available for private viewing by appointment outside of Parade Hours - Penalties for Show Homes closed during Parade Hours: Due to the extensive marketing and advertising campaign for Parade of Homes that benefits all Parade builders, the public is expecting all Parade show homes to be opened during Parade hours. To stress the importance of maintaining Parade hours, the following penalties will be applied for each incident of a Parade builder's home being closed during Parade hours, as described in Rule #12:
1st Offence $1,250.00 fine
2nd Offence $2,750.00 fine
3rd Offence $5,250.00 fine and ineligible for Parade entries for one year - Damages due to errors or omissions concerning homes entered or the maps in the parade magazine or any related advertising, press release, etc. (with the exception of items in rule #7 herein) are limited to a maximum of a refund of the parade entry fee. Any errors must be brought to the attention of the Parade of Homes Committee.
- The Parade of Homes and associated promotions are only for homes entered in the event. Any builder who, in the opinion of the committee, takes advantage of Parade of Homes promotions in any way for a home not entered in the Parade will have all Parade entries disqualified and/or be fined up to $1,250.00. The Parade of Homes Committee deems that this includes the display of any type of yellow flag or any signage that can be mistaken for Parade of Homes signage in front of a non-entered show home.
- Any decision regarding rule violations will be made by the Parade of Homes Committee. The Parade of Homes Committee has the right to rescind any award given if the builder is found to be in violation of the above rules.
- Builders who enter homes in subdivisions in which a ‘Developer' does not pay the minimum $650.00 sponsorship fee will be subject to a $200.00 per entry surcharge for each entry in the subdivision.
(Builders are encouraged to discuss rule #17 with your Developer prior to filing the entry to determine if they will be a Parade sponsor)
Developer Surcharge Information
Developers are required to provide sponsorship for the Fall Parade of Homes by contributing $130.00 per entry in a subdivision with a minimum contribution of $650.00.
Entries submitted by a builder for a sub-division that does not have a developer sponsorship will be charged an additional $200.00 per entry
